I am the lead pastor here at Temple Baptist Church. I was born and raised in Fort Pierce, Florida, where I gave my life to Christ at a young age and surrendered the call to preach at 17 years old. After graduating from Victory Baptist Bible College, I began pastoring a church in South Carolina. In 1999, I received a call inviting me to be a fill-in for a church in Cullman, Alabama. I was asked to stay full-time and have been at Temple ever since. I also serve on the board of directors for the Timothy Initiative. I travel nationwide, teaching Christians how to share their story and make disciples through DMD (disciples making disciples).
My wife Tammy and I, have been married for almost 30 years. We have four daughters: Jordan (Austin) Whisnant, Rebecca (Shawn) Dehart, Brandie (Clay) Morrison, and Mackenzie Carter. We have four grandchildren: Carter, Peter, Emory, and Maisie
When I'm not preaching or studying, I am usually in the woods with my coonhounds or on the golf course.
"My heart for God and love for the ministry are my main motivations in life. I have witnessed God move in miraculous ways over the past 24 years as we have seen lives changed and people come to Christ.” - Pastor Malcolm Carter II
Malcolm Carter II | Pastor
I was born and raised on the West Coast, spending most of my childhood and teen years in the Phoenix, AZ Metro area. In 1997, I moved to Huntsville, AL to go to college at the University of Alabama in Huntsville to pursue a degree in Atmospheric Science. That same year, after attending Temple Baptist for several months, I trusted Christ as my savior. For the next several years I continued to attend and volunteer at Temple, study at UAH, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Math, and then a Master Degree in Atmospheric Science.
In early 2005, I felt the call to enter fulltime ministry. Just a few years later in 2007, I started full time at Temple as the Executive Pastor. It has been an amazing journey thus far, and God has truly blessed not only Temple, but my family. I met my wife Nancy at Temple and we were married at Temple in 2006. We have three amazing children Dawson, Preston and Kirsty, who is grown and now living in Huntsville, AL.
Away from the office I enjoy storm chasing. I have been able to see many tornadoes over the years and be in the eye of several hurricanes. We are a huge soccer family and spend many hours each week on the soccer pitch. My motivation in life is to love God and to serve Him in whatever capacity He sees fit. I am completely humbled that I get to serve the Lord and to work with people not only at Temple but across the USA through the work being done with The Timothy Initiative. I am excited about what the future holds at Temple and can’t wait to see what God has planned for all of us!
